Fins long and narrow, not paddle-shaped, extend laterally from near anterior to posterior end of mantle, not fused posteriorly; long wide calcareous internal shell (sepion) under the skin on dorsalmantle side. Absent in the plankton, not included in the present review. In the South Atlantic present only off Africa.
