Secondary spicules needle- or thorn-like. Length on main spicules: 0.40-0.75 mm; secondary: 0.05-0.26 mm. Very variable species, Schewiakoff (1926) described 3 subspecies: Amphilonche elongata belonoides, Amphilonche elongata amphipolaris and Amphilonche elongata heteracantha.
