Family Microstomidae Luther, 1907


Gut with pre-oral blind sac; asexually produced discrete zooids (chains) as well as sexual reproduction; ciliated sensory pits near front of body, ducts of frontal glands pass below brain, posterior body tapers to a blunt point. Male with simple tubular stylet, male canal passes behind male pore to enter pore from posterior. Marine and freshwater.

Westblad (1953) has given an account of this group in Skandanavia. Although referred to this family, Myozonella Beklemischev, 1955 is likely to prove a catenulid.
