Family Haplopharyngidae Karling, 1965

Description

Pharynx simplex. Brain encapsulated, two ventro-lateral nerve cords. Ovary single, no accessory organs, female pore posterior to male; male with circle of hard straight stylets, some associated with a glandular accessory organ. Free-living, marine.

Haplopharynx Meixner, 1938

Remarks

This small group of worms, long united with the Macrostomida, was discussed by Karling (1965) and later raised to ordinal rank.
