Order Lecithoepitheliata Reisinger, 1924


Pharynx anterior, complex. Eggs not entolecithal, but surrounded by vitelline cells (both produced by common germinal tissue). Free-living, freshwater, terrestrial and marine.

The status of this group, along with the Prolecithophora, is somewhat unclear (Ax, 1984). Karling (1974) raised each of the following groups to sub-orders, but questioned a close affinity between them. Timoshkin (1991) provided a review.
