Papilla

Papillae (singular papilla) are any cone-shaped projection from the surface of an organism. Many organisms have papillae, including plants (e.g. on the surface of flower petals), invetebrates (e.g. on the surface of sea cucumbers) and humans (on the surface of the tongue), etc., etc.

In sea cucumbers: Fleshy projections of the body wall, usually conical, with a sensory tube foot at its apex. On the upper surface of aspidochirotes these may be modified.
