Semper, 1868

H. (Metriatyla) albiventer is a sea cucumber that is green/brown above, flecked with black - below it is grey/white. It is a small to medium sized (40-130 mm.), cylindrical species with 20 tentacles and sparse papillae. Its spicules are very solid tables larger (x3) than knobbed buttons (H. albiventer spicules). It is found in silty coastal areas and may be dredged.

Remarks: The relatively large size of the tables of H. albiventer may serve to distinguish it from H. scabra.
