T. grisea is a small (to ca. 50 mm), grey or red-brown, even purple, sea cucumber, tapering towards the ends and covered with papillae. Its spicules are numerous stout tables with oval perforated discs, a low spire, and the 2 pillars leaning together (Thyone grisea spicules, Thyone grisea spicules 2). It has been found in dredged samples from Northwest Australia.
