Holothurians with 15-30 shield-shaped tentacles. Body wall usually thick; ossicles usually include tables. Respiratory trees present. Mesentery of posterior intestinal loop attached to right ventral interradius. Longitudinal muscles arranged into five double bands. Some species may reach a length of 1-2 m. The animals usually occur in exposed shallow-water environments.
