H. (Halodeima) edulis is a small to large (< 300 (400) mm) sea cucumber that is dark red/black above and pink below. It is a cylindrical species with rounded ends, a smooth tegument, and a pliable body wall (H. edulis photo). Spicules are tables with a small disc. H. edulis can be found on reefs, exposed or concealed amongst rubble.
