Description:
Shell as for Nassarius reticulatus , but the outer surfaces an inside of aperture are violet, outer lip is faintly toothed and there are three spirals on the basal boss.

Size:
Up to 30 mm.

Colour:
Violet.

Habitat:
In muddy bottoms in waters with variable salinity.

Distribution:
Distribution poorly known because of taxonomic confusion with N. reticulatus. Common in the Mediterranean and possible in estuaries of the North Sea.
