Description (shell):
Glossy, fragile, elliptical, with spiral striations, aperture usually larger than last whorl and spire height combined. Spire flattened or indented.

Size:
Shell up to 4 mm, total length up to 6 mm.

Colour:
Translucent whitish.

Animal:
Body white. Cephalic shield indented medially, cephalic tentacles flattened, stout and somewhat pointed.

Habitat:
Found in fine muddy sand; sublittoral, to 2000 m.

Distribution:
Predominantly northern distribution (Distr. R. umbilicata).
