Description: Body short and maggot-like. Prostomium is small and triangular, with two dorsolateral nuchal slits. A constriction behind the second pair of parapodia defines the head region. Only the segments of the head region with obvious secondary annulation. Thorax is cylindrical, with 8 chaetigers. Abdomen slender, with two lateral and one ventral furrow. Neuropodia 9 and 10 with prechaetal lobes. Chaetiger 10 with 5-7 big papillae dorsal to the parapodia. All chaetae are capillaries; notopodial chaetae are longer than neuropodial. Chaetiger 3 to 10 without gills. Posterior part of the body with 14 pairs of gills, composed of three filament starting at chaetiger 12. Gills absent in the last 6 chaetigers. Pygidium short, with 3-8 short, rounded papillae (E. flabelligerus-detail).
Size: Up to 9 mm for 32 segments.
Colour: Pink to flesh-coloured.
Habitat: On sand, upper sublittoral.
