Diagnosis: maximum body depth less than head length. Nostrils not tubular. Lower pectoral fin lobe length shorter than head. Dorsal finrays about 47; anal finrays 40-41. Size: to 90 mm.

Habitat: benthic, at temperatures less than 3 ºC, depths 988-1785 m. Food: no data. Reproduction: no data.

Distribution: Norwegian Sea; Faroe Channel; north, west and south of Iceland. North of the Faroe Is., south of Jan Mayen I.
