? Histiophorus gracilirostris Cuvier, in Cuvier & Valenciennes, 1832, Hist. nat. Poiss., 8: 308-309 (type locality: Seychelles?.). Holotype: a spear of an istiophorid, purportedly from La Rochelle, France, but species description based in part on a spear from the Seychelles; the spear may be from a specimen of Makaira, MNHN no. A 9462.
