Diagnosis: lateral line system with anterior dorsal rows g and h distinct, and sub-orbital row b distant from preopercle. Nape naked. Dl VI; D2 I + 14-15, A I + 14-15; P 22-24. Scales in lateral series 28. Colour: 8 narrow, dark brown vertical bands across body. Size: to 4.4 cm.

Habitat: offshore shelf and upper slope, in about 100-345 m. Food: no data. Reproduction: no data.

Distribution: eastern Atlantic (off Morocco and Madeira).

Eggs, larvae and young stages. No data.
