True Sea-urchins

Sea-urchins of the Order Diadematoidea which have ambulacral plates with 3 or more pairs of tube foot pores. The jaws of the globiferous pedicellariae have one or two pairs of teeth below the single terminal mouth.

There are 4 representatives of this family in the North Sea:
- Psammechinus miliaris
- Echinus elegans
- Echinus esculentus
- Echinus acutus
