Body robust; coxal plate 2 tapering distally, plate 3 with the distal margin sinuous or irregularly rounded, plate 4 much larger than rest. Head with a large rostrum reaching almost to end of the peduncle article 1 of antenna 1; eyes large, rounded. Female antenna 1 peduncle stout, articles 2 and 3 about equal, flagellum about 10-articulate. Male antenna 1 slightly more robust, flagellum with tuft of long setae proximally. Female antenna 2 slightly longer than 1, peduncle articles short and robust. Male antenna 2 flagellum filiform, longer than body. Antennae and pereiopods with especially robust setae. Gnathopod 1 carpal lobe slender and extending well beyond proximal palmar angle of propodus, palm convex, oblique, setose, propodus with anterior margin strongly setose. Gnathopod 2 very slender, elongate, carpal lobe rounded and reaching well beyond apex of propodus. Pereiopods 3 and 4 merus broad, carpus and propodus stout, dactylus minute. Pereiopods 5 and 6 robust, dactylus very small. Pereiopod 7 basis only moderately broad with posterior margin straight or weakly sinuous. Uropods slender, spinose. Telson rounded.

Whitish or yellowish.
Depth range from 5 to 30 metres, locally common.
