Coxal plates of moderate length; epimeral plate 3 quadrate, distal angle narrowly rounded. Head with prominent lateral lobes, triangular, more narrowly produced in male than in female, distal margin often weakly crenulate; eyes moderately large, oval, bright red in colour. Antenna 1 and 2 equal in length, flagellum in male with calceoli; antenna 1 peduncle article 1 moderately large, articles 2 and 3 compressed, flagellum up to about 12-articulate, setose; accessory flagellum 3 or 4-articulate. Antenna 2 slender, flagellum about 8-articulate. Gnathopod 1 simple, ischium with the anterior margin acute, propodus about equal in length to the carpus, posterior margin with four or five long spines, dactylus short and robust. Gnathopod 2 propodus only half the length of the carpus, minutely subchelate, setose. Pereiopods 5 to 7 basis broadly expanded, posterior margin serrate. Coxal gills only weakly pleated. Uropods 1 and 2 biramous, sparsely spinose, rami about equal in size; uropod 3 inner ramus a little shorter than the outer one with a single outer-marginal seta. Outer ramus 2-articulate with the distal article small. Telson elongate, cleft to half its length, each lobe with two or three very small setules.
Length about 3 to 4 mm.
Translucent with a greenish, yellowish or reddish tinge.
Depth range from 0 to 50 metres, locally quite common and occasionally intertidal.
