Rathke, 1842

Description:
Body elongate cylindrical, length 3 times the width, 2-15 mm long; brown-red in colour, greenish when old. Mantle aperture an elevated terminal and often lobate structure. Narrow stalk, about half way from the mantle opening. A prominent fusiform dark (shield) around the stalk on the body.

Habitat:
Parasitic on the hermit crabs Anapagurus chiroacanthus and Pagurus cuanensis , attached to the abdomen, usually on the left side. Up to 5% (usually less) of the hosts infected. Usually single, multiples by change up to four.
