Eyes extremely large in male and almost joining on top of head, in female small and oval, black in colour. Antenna 1 flagellum about 9-articulate; accessory flagellum 5 to 7-articulate. Antenna 2 peduncle especially robust and spinose, flagellum in female small, 2-articulate and equal to length of peduncle article 5, in male filiform and as long as body. Gnathopod 1 carpus setose, propodus oval, palm oblique. Pereiopod 5 carpus only slightly broader than merus, and slightly broader than long, propodus long and narrow, dactylus with anterior margin curved and distally crenulate. Pereiopods 5 and 6 with many plumose setae; pereiopods 6 and 7 propodus little shorter than carpus. Uropod 1 peduncle short and stout, rami smooth, strongly curved; uropod 2 rami smooth, about equal length, weakly curved; uropod 3 rami about equal, densely setose. Telson as long as wide, each lobe with 1 apical spine and 3 or 4 setae.
Up to 8 mm.
Depth range from 5 to 200 metres; occasionally found intertidally at LWS. Usually in coarser sediments of sand or gravel. Associated with Synaptidae and Echinocardium cordatum .
