Watkin, 1938

Description:
Body robust; pleon segment 4 depressed dorsally with pair of anteriorly directed setae but no posteriorly directed spines. Coxal plate 1 with apex rounded, posterior margin smooth, posterodistal margin with 5 to 7 long setae; coxal plates 2 and 3 posterodistal angle without tooth but may have small notch inset with short seta, distal margin with 4 or 5 long setae in male, up to 25 setae in female. Epimeral plate 3 posterodistal margin broadly rounded, distal margin with 4 or 5 groups of spines. Head with eyes elongate-oval. Antenna 1 peduncle article 1 distal margin broadly rounded, ventral margin with 3 or 4 plumose setae in female, 2 or 3 plumose setae in male, flagellum in female 7 to 8-articulate, in male 10 to l1-articulate. Antenna 2 flagellum in female 8 to 10-articulate, in male flagellum less than half body length. Uropod 3 outer ramus article 1 weakly expanded, article 2 only about one-quarter length of article 2.

Size:
Up to 7 mm.

Habitat:
Depth range from the intertidal to about 20 metres.

Distribution:
North East Atlantic; North Sea: frequently recorded from Norway to the English Channel.
