Sakai, 1939

Carapace covered with a fine pile, a pair of frontal ridges, a pair of protogastrics, mesogastric interrupted in mid line, epibranchial ridges interrupted by cervical grooves and medially, cardiac ridge short, medially interrupted, 2 short mesobranchial ridges; front with 4 lobes, medians narrower than laterals; 5 antero-lateral teeth, fourth the smallest. Upper surface of cheliped palm with 2 spines on anterior and 2 on posterior borders, respectively; lower border with squamiform markings. (Türkay 1995)

Front 4-lobed, sinuous, median frontal lobes fairly prominent narrower than laterals; 5 antero-lateral teeth; fourth antero-lateral tooth almost as large as fifth. (Davie 1999)

Type locality: Taniyama, Kagoshima, Japan.
Range: Japan - Kagoshima (Sakai, 1939), Sagami Bay (Sakai, 1965b), Sagami Bay, Kii Nagashima and Kagoshima (Sakai, 1976a), Taniyama, Satsuma (Stephenson, 1976), Tosa Bay (Muraoka, 1998); Taiwan - Tingch'ieting (Lin, 1949), Kaohsiung and I-lan Provinces (Huang & Yu, 1997); South China Sea - Nansha Islands (Dai & Xu, 1991); 10-53 m.
