Dana, 1852

Carapace with rounded frontal ridges, protogastric ridges either faint or absent, mesogastrics distinct, epibranchial ridge distinct, interrupted by cervical groove and medially, median mesobranchial ridge short but distinct, cardiac ridge absent; front with 2 lobes; 5 antero-lateral teeth, fourth much smaller than remainder. Basal antennal joint with a distinct smooth or minutely granular crest. Upper surface of cheliped palm with anterior carina obsolescent, bearing 2 tubercles, posterior carina distinct, bearing a spine and a tubercle. Posterior border of propodus of swimming leg with 6-9 spines, sometimes additional proximal ones. Male first pleopod short and stout, gradually tapering to tip; inner surface with 5-6 terminal bristles; outer surface with 12 terminal bristles. (Türkay 1995)

Front 2-lobed, not very protruding; tips of chelipeds pointed, not spoon-shaped; basal antennal joint with acute smooth, or minutely granular, crest; 5 antero-lateral teeth; cardiac ridges not present on carapace; protogastric region smooth or granular but without ridge; male first pleopod without recurved tip, about 16 subterminal bristles markedly backwardly directed.
