Front 2-lobed, not very protruding, median frontal notch usually feebly developed, front usually smoothly curved; tips of chelipeds pointed, not spoon-shaped; basal antennal joint with acute granular or tubercular crest; 5 antero-lateral teeth; cardiac ridges not present on carapace; protogastric region smooth or granular but without ridge; male first pleopod with markedly recurved tip, most of subterminal spines on convex surface; male abdomen with sides of penultimate segment converging gradually. Range: Red Sea; Madagascar - Nosy Bé, banc Vert, Ankify, Toliara, and Toamasina (Crosnier, 1962); Mauritius (Alcock, 1899a, Bouvier, 1915b, Michel, 1964); Sri Lanka; Andaman Islands (Alcock, 1899a); West Malay Peninsula - Thailand (Stephenson, 1972a); Japan - Ishigaki-jima (Minei, 1971); Taiwan - Kaohsiung Province and P'eng-hu (Huang & Yu, 1997); China - Hainan Island (Dai & Yang, 1991); Philippines - Dinagat (Stephenson, 1972a); Australia - Cape York, Murray I., North Direction I., Low Isles and Lady Musgrave Island (Stephenson & Hudson, 1957); Lord Howe Island (Stephenson & Hudson, 1957); Caroline Islands - Mela (Stephenson, 1976); Fiji - Suva (Stephenson, 1972a); Tahiti (Forest & Guinot, 1961); intertidal to 40 m.
