Carapace convex anteriorly; breadth between exorbital angles distinctly more than length of carapace; antero-lateral borders straight without any indication of lobes or teeth. Male cheliped with 28-30 transverse dactylar tubercles; inner surface with vertical sub-distal row of granules; fingers without large gape when closed. (Davie 1997)

Type locality: Samoa.
Range: Madagascar - Nosy Bé and Tuléar (Crosnier, 1965); Sumatra - Banda Aceh (de Man, 1895b, 1898); Japan - Kinokawa, Wakayama (Nomoto et al., 1999); Indonesia - Tanahjampea, Flores Sea (Tesch, 1918a); Papua New Guinea - north of New Ireland (Sendler, 1923); Caroline Islands; Samoa (A. Milne Edwards, 1869).
