(de Haan, 1835)

Carapace and pereiopods thickly covered with a coat of soft hairs. Carapace broader than long and longitudinally convex. Surface thickly covered with hairs, smooth on denudation. A tooth at the exorbital angle; two widely separated antero-lateral teeth, all three teeth small and acuminate. Front slightly concave. Supraorbital margin smooth. Chelipeds asymmetric; palm compressed, outer surface with the distal portion bearing thick hairs, inner surface bare and smooth, turgid at the middle and coarsely granulated along the dorsal and ventral margins; fingers distally acute and narrowly gaping; no black colouration; carpus with two spiniform teeth, at the inner and outer angles respectively. Ambulatory legs long, slender, and hairy (Guinot, 1998)

Range: Japan - (de Haan), Tokyo Bay and Maizuru (Ortmann, 1894a), Wakanoura, Kii (Rathbun, 1902a), Sagami Bay and Tokyo (Parisi, 1918), Sagami Bay, Tokyo Bay, and Tsushima (Balss, 1922c), west of Iki, Niigata and south of Oga (Yokoya, 1933), Nagasaki (Sakai, 1934a), Tateyama Bay, Tokyo Bay, Ise Bay, Onomichi and Nagasaki (Sakai, 1939), Sagami Bay (Sakai, 1965b), from Inubo-zaki to Kyushu (Sakai, 1976a), Yamagata Prefecture (Suzuki S., 1979), off Matsuyama, Seto Inland Sea (Takeda et al., 2000); Korea - Yosu and Keisho-nando (Kamita, 1941), Bangjugpo, Jinhae and Eocheong Island (Kim 1973); East China Sea (Takeda & Miyake, 1968c); China - Yantai, Shandong Peninsula (Shen, 1932), Bo Hai, Yellow Sea, and East China Sea (Chen, 1984); Australia; 45-110 m.
