Casanova & Chidgey, 1986

Hooks: 11-13; anterior teeth: 0-4; posterior teeth: 5-11.
Maximum adult body length: 34 mm; tail: 30-35 %.
Body large and firm, opaque; transversal musculature on trunk and tail; head wide; hooks not serrated. Fin bridge present; one pair of medium length lateral fins both on trunk and tail; lateral fins fully rayed, rounded. Collarette long and narrow; gut diverticula absent; eyes absent. Seminal vesicles conical; position of seminal vesicles: separated from posterior fins, touching tail fin. Ovaries short; ova fairly small. Adhesive papillae and adhesive organs absent. Vestibular organs present, two ridges; apical gland cell complex present; neck canals present.

Distribution: bathypelagic.

Remarks: 18 immature specimens at about 3400 m in the Eastern North Atlantic.

Type locality: 43°30'N, 20°W.
