Hooks: 7-9; anterior teeth: 1-5; posterior teeth: 1.
Maximum adult body length: 9 mm; tail: 34-38 %.
Body slender and fragile; transversal musculature on trunk and tail; head wide; hooks not serrated. Fin bridge absent; one pair of medium length lateral fins both on trunk and tail; lateral fins fully rayed, rounded. Collarette absent; gut diverticula absent; eyes absent. Seminal vesicles conical; position of seminal vesicles: separated from posterior fins, touching tail fin. Ovaries short; ova fairly small. Adhesive papillae and adhesive organs absent. Vestibular organs with long papillae; apical gland cell complex present, large; neck canals absent.

Distribution: bathypelagic.

Remarks: 5 specimens found between 1000 and 2000 m in the Antarctic Ocean (Atlantic and Indian sector).

Type locality: 60°51.7'S, 55°09.0'W.
