Alvariño, 1967

Description
Hooks: 6-7; anterior teeth: 6-9; posterior teeth: 12-14.
Maximum adult body length: 22 mm; tail: 22-25 %.
Body firm and muscular, opaque; transversal musculature absent; head wide; hooks not serrated. Fin bridge absent. Anterior fins long, fully rayed, rounded; posterior fins of medium length, fully rayed, rounded. Collarette long; gut diverticula present. Small eyes with T-shaped pigment spot. Seminal vesicles with knob and trunk; position of seminal vesicles: touching both posterior fins and tail fin. Ovaries long, reaching to neck region; ova large. Adhesive papillae and adhesive organs absent. Apical glands absent.

Distribution: epipelagic; Gulf of Thailand.

Type locality: 7°41'N, 104°58'E.
