Beraneck, 1895

Hooks: 6-8; anterior teeth: 5-10; posterior teeth: 18-29.
Maximum adult body length: 15 mm; tail: 20-28 %.
Body firm, opaque; transversal musculature absent; head narrow; hooks not serrated. Fin bridge absent. Anterior fins of medium length, partially rayed, rounded; posterior fins long, partially rayed, angular. Short collarette; gut diverticula absent or very small. Small eyes with star-shaped pigment spot. Seminal vesicles conical; position of seminal vesicles: touching both posterior fins and tail fin. Ovaries of medium length, to region of ventral ganglion; ova fairly large. Adhesive papillae and adhesive organs absent; apical glands absent.

Distribution: epipelagic; Indo-Pacific between 40°N and 40°S.
