Hooks: 9-10; anterior teeth: none; posterior teeth: 13.
Maximum adult body length: 17 mm; tail: 17-27 %.
Body fairly firm and musculature; transversal musculature unknownt; head narrow; hooks not serrated. Fin bridge absent; anterior fins short, rayless, rounded. Posterior fins of medium length, rayless, rounded. Collarette absent; gut diverticula absent; eyes absent. Seminal vesicles conical; position of seminal vesicles: touching posterior fins separated from tail fin. Ovaries short, to posterior end of posterior fins; ova fairly large. Adhesive papillae and adhesive organs absent; apical glands absent.

Distribution: bathypelagic below 3000 m; probably circumglobal.

Remarks: one specimen found in the Gulf of Mexico at 2500 m.

Type locality: 25°59'N, 86°11'W.
