Casanova, 1986

Hooks: 6; anterior teeth: 1-4; posterior teeth: 3.
Maximum adult body length: 11 mm; tail: 43-44 %.
Body slender, opaque; transversal musculature on trunk and tail; head narrow; hooks not serrated. Fin bridge absent; medium-length lateral fins both on trunk and tail; lateral fins partially rayed, very few rays, rounded. Collarette absent; gut diverticula absent; eyes absent. Seminal vesicles conical; position of seminal vesicles: touching neither posterior fins nor tail fin. Ovaries short and broad; ova fairly small. Adhesive papillae and adhesive organs absent. Vestibular organs small with small papillae; apical gland cell complex present; neck canals absent.

Distribution: bathypelagic.

Remarks: two specimens from about 4000 m in the Eastern North Atlantic.

Type locality: 20°N, 21°W.
