Alvariño, 1970

Hooks: 8-9; anterior teeth: 4; posterior teeth: none.
Maximum adult body length: 3 mm; tail: 49 %.
Body firm and muscular; transversal musculature on trunk; head wide. Fin bridge absent; one pair of short lateral fins both on trunk and tail; lateral fins fully rayed, rounded. Collarette long; gut diverticula absent; large eyes with star-shaped pigment. Seminal vesicles conical; position of seminal vesicles: touching both posterior fins and tail fin. Ovaries long, reaching to neck region; ova large. Adhesive papillae present; 3 adhesive appendages present; apical glands absent.

Distribution: benthic, neritic.

Remarks: found in tropical West Atlantic.

Type locality: South-West of Bahia Fosforescente, Puerto Rico.
