Hooks: 13; anterior teeth: none; posterior teeth: 2-5.
Maximum adult body length: 12 mm; tail: 36-41 %.
Body large and firm, opaque; transversal musculature on trunk and tail; head wide; hooks not serrated. Fin bridge absent; one pair of medium length lateral fins both on trunk and tail; lateral fins fully rayed, rounded. Collarette absent; gut diverticula absent; eyes absent. Seminal vesicles conical; position of seminal vesicles: separated from posterior fins, close to or touching tail fin. Ovaries short; ova fairly small. Adhesive papillae and adhesive organs absent. Vestibular organs collarlike with one row of long papillae and one row of short papillae; apical gland cell complex present or absent; neck canals absent.

Distribution: bathypelagic.

Remarks: 3 specimens found between 1000 and 2000 m in the Antarctic Ocean.

Type locality: 60°52.0'S, 55°08.0'W.
