Hooks: 8-9; anterior teeth: 6-8; posterior teeth: 10-16.
Maximum adult body length: 14 mm; tail: 16-25 %.
Body flaccid, transparent; transversal musculature absent; head narrow; hooks not serrated. Fin bridge absent. Anterior fins short, fully rayed, rounded; posterior fins of medium length, fully rayed, rounded. Collarette absent or small; gut diverticula absent; eyes with star-shaped pigment spot. Seminal vesicles with knob and trunk; position of seminal vesicles: close to or touching both posterior fins and tail fin when mature. Ovaries short, reaching posterior end anterior fins; ova fairly large. Adhesive papillae and adhesive organs absent. Apical glands absent.

Distribution: neritic; North-east Atlantic, Baltic, Mediterranean and Black Sea.


Type locality: North Sea.
