Description: Body laterally flattened, oval in profile, with s slender, deeply forked tail. Body brilliant blue, with dark on the nape, along the back and on the borders of the tail (C. cyanea 2). No black spot at the base of the pectoral fin. Dorsal fin ending in a sharp point. Size up to 15 cm.
Habitat: Common above deep outer reefs, down to 60 m. Feeds in aggregations on small zooplankton, mainly copepods. Retreats into coral crevices when frightened.
Distribution: Common Florida and Bahamas, abundant Caribbean.
