Burgundy crust alga Peyssonneliarubra (Greville) J. Agardh
Description: This species form thin, hard, highly calcified encrustations. Growth follows the contours of the substrate and resembles a painted coating. Outer margins may not be tightly attached. Dark red to burgundy in color.
Habitat: Prefer shaded areas, attached to hard substrates.
Distribution: Abundant to occasional Florida, Bahamas and Caribbean.
