Sun anemone
Stichodactyla helianthus
(Ellis, 1768)

Description:
Flattened oral disc covered with hundreds short, thick tentacles with a rounded tip. Oral disc up to 15 cm.

Color:
Tentacles and oral disc green to brown.

Habitat:
Inhabit shallow reefs, down to 9 m. Dense clusters may occupy large areas.

Distribution:
Common to occasional Bahamas, eastern and southern Caribbean; rare northwestern Caribbean.
