Semper, 1868

C. rigida is a red or pink, somewhat translucent sea cucumber with white speckles made up of the spicule clusters. It is a small species (ca. 50 mm), with 12 white tentacles. The spicules are characteristic wheels (C. rigida spicules), sigmoid bodies are lacking. C. rigida is found on reefs and in coastal areas, below sand and under rocks.
