(Herdman, 1898)
Description: Female body up to 120x30 mm, green and papillate. Proboscis nearly as long, greenish, truncate but not bifid. Body without a distinct genital groove, but with two ventral chaetae with a strong interbasal muscle. Two nephridia. Anal vesicles saclike, covered with densely aggregated tubules. Male unknown.
Habitat: Burrowing into sand and mud, mostly at great depths.
Distribution: Kattegat, Skagerrak, Irish Sea and west Scotland.
Remarks: Not clearly distinguished from the Mediterranean form Maxmuelleria gigas (Müller), which was described earlier. |
