Description:
Proboscis 30-40 mm long, orange with brown streaks. Body 70-110 mm long, greyish brown, bearing 21-23 rings of papillae, each alternating with 4 or 5 rings of smaller papillae. Body with two anterior chaetae and two posterior circles of chaetae, each of between 5 and 9 chaetae.
Convuoluted gut anteriorly obscured by 2 pairs of nephridia and posteriorly with a pair of long anal vesicles with ciliated funnels.

Habitat:
Burrows into sand or mud, mostly at great depths.

Distribution:
Holarctic, extending southwards to the Kattegat and North Sea. One record from shore debris at St Andrews.
