Description
Hooks: 5-9; anterior teeth: 4-9; posterior teeth: 5-17.
Maximum adult body length: 33 mm; tail: 17-27 %.
Body fairly firm; transversal musculature absent; head wide and wide; hooks not serrated. Fin bridge absent; anterior fins long, partially rayed, rounded. Posterior fins of medium length, partially rayed, angular. Collarette absent; gut diverticula present. Small eyes with T-shaped pigment spot. Seminal vesicles conical; position of seminal vesicles: touching neither posterior fins nor tail fin. Ovaries of medium length, to region of ventral ganglion; ova small. Adhesive papillae and adhesive organs absent; apical glands absent.

Distribution: bathypelagic below 3000 m; probably circumglobal.

Type locality: 42°3.7'N, 21°47.1'W.
