Usually circular or subcircular in outline, shell phosphatic or punctate calcareous; pedicle opening, when present, confined to pedicle valve, growth of pedicle valve holoperipheral or mixoperipheral; shell secretion of brachial valve more variable, beak marginal to subcentral.
